It’s beginning to finally feel like spring after what seemed like a never-ending winter! Trees are blossoming and the early spring tulips, daffodils and hyacinths are finally giving color to our yards after seeing so much of the white stuff for so long now. Here in the Hudson Valley, with the warmer weather, comes an abundance of events to give us a little break, keep our weekends busy and break us out of this past season’s extended winter hibernation.

Now that May has arrived, and with Memorial Day’s official kick-off of summer only a few short weeks away, there is plenty to fill our calendars with! Can’t forget that May 13th is Mother’s Day- but we’re covered there with some great events and things to do that Mom is sure to love too!

However among the more traditional mountain retreats for sale, there are also stunning contemporaries, decked out in modern luxury.  Super modern homes for sale in and around the Hudson Valley are out there, but not always easy to find.  We're seeing more and more modern new construction properties for sale in the Catskill mountain region of upstate NY.

Living upstate doesn't necessarily mean roughing it at the farm, though.

Check out some of these ultra modern homes that have recently sold across the county.

Ulster County is a destination for lovers this time of year. What could be better on a cold winter’s day than to spend some quality time with your love, enjoying a delicious meal and some sweet treats to go along with it? There’s lots of ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day here in Ulster County with your love, so much so, that for the ambitious, it may be hard to fit your whole desired Hudson Valley itinerary into one single, love-filled day. This 2018, Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday (which is a little bit of a bummer for those trying to squeeze in plans around weekday work schedules), but who says you can’t celebrate the weekend before and/or after and turn

For almost 5 years now there has been a buzz surrounding the Kingston area, touting it as a ‘new Brooklyn’; a hip new place to escape the bustling city and explore your passions and creativity. We’ve followed that buzz for a while and have seen the changes in and around  Kingston over the last few years, from the assortment of new and thriving businesses and restaurants that have come to town to the burgeoning ‘artist’s corridor’, livening up the once neglected Mid-town section of the city.

What was once a small whisper of a buzz about Kingston though, has transformed into a much louder call, beckoning even more people and more industry to Ulster County’s largest city. Forget the designation of being the “new Brooklyn”... Kingston is poising itself

Surely you’ve heard about the controversy stemming from the Dakota Access Pipeline protests that have taken place over the past few months across the country, but did you know that, if you’re an Ulster County resident, this type of issue hits much closer to home, possibly more than you have realized?

Enter the proposed Pilgrim Pipeline - a crude & refined oil transportation pipeline stretching from Albany, New York to Linden, New Jersey and traversing straight through our home here in Ulster County. Just like other oil pipelines across the country, the proposed Pilgrim Pipeline is facing opposition left and right from local residents, town officials, environmental agencies, and the like. While reports about the pipeline stress the need for an

Wine Glass.jpgForget about Napa Valley in California; this weekend, the Hudson Valley becomes the hub of all things vino related at the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Festival; a premier wine event for the whole northeastern seaboard. This annual event, that started back in 2001, comes to the Rhinebeck Fairgrounds every September, the weekend after Labor Day, and is set to return again this weekend on Saturday, September 10th and Sunday, September 11th! We’ve been looking forward to this festival since we first mentioned it on our Summer Festivals blog earlier this year, and we’re definitely excited that it’s almost here!

First and foremost, the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Festival is a celebration of all things wine and features the offerings of vineyards and wineries

It’s hard to believe it, but it feels that somehow summer has slipped through our fingers and we’re sitting here looking at the calendar in disbelief- ‘How could Labor Day weekend have come so quickly once again?’

It’s easy to see how the end of summer could have snuck up on us this year. The Hudson Valley’s extreme heat and humidity throughout August has had us in a permanent summer state of mind, yet with the first full week of September and the start of school only days away, we’ll all soon be trading in bathing suits and popsicles for pencils and pumpkin spice, whether we are ready or not!

If you’re not headed out of town or to the beach this Labor Day weekend, there’s still plenty to do right here to enjoy one final blast of summer and have
