Rosendale, NY's Main Street is both beautiful and unique. This short but thriving thoroughfare is a snapshot of the community that makes up this trendy, up-and-coming town just 90 miles north of New York City. A mini-melting pot of small businesses, eateries, residential properties, and municipal buildings rests on the banks of the Rondout Creek and in the shadow of Mount Joppen-burg. If ever a Main Street captured the classic and picturesque beauty of the Hudson Valley region, main street Rosendale is it! Take a stroll with Taft Street down Main Street and see why Rosendale, NY is one of the most desirable areas to buy a home in the Hudson Valley.

Whether you are looking in "Upstate" NY, the "Catskills", or even the "Hudson Valley", the common question pops up, "Where does one area begin and another end?"  Some buyers begin with a broad search of Hudson Valley homes for sale, while others know the specific county they want to be in.  There are even times where the buyer already knows specifically which town or area they like most.  Homes for sale in Ulster County, NY have always been very desirable to buyers.  Although surrounding counties are nice, Ulster County Real Estate, in my opinion, is extra special.  In no particular order, I decided to highlight 5 really cool and very popular areas within Ulster County, NY.  Each of these hot spots in Ulster County, NY offer something of value and are

If you're out and about running errands on a cold November morning, few things offer more comfort than a hot cup of fresh coffee and maybe a warm bagel or roll. Such were my thoughts recently as I shuffled into The Last Bite in High Falls, NY. It was an early, cold, and so far coffee-less morning, so I was in need of some quality nourishment. I'm always looking for great local spots to eat in the Hudson Valley, and I had heard good things about The Last Bite. I stepped up to the old-time storefront, with an aged hanging sign swinging in the wind, reminiscent of an era long past.

Carolyn WonderlandThis morning I happened to be flicking through the channels, hoping to catch a little news as I began my day. I paused on “Imus in the Morning”, drawn-in not by a headline, but by the powerfully strong female vocals of a band playing live on the show. I listened on. The 3-person band was called Carolyn Wonderland, and they’re soulful performance this morning came as a pleasant surprise, as I’m always grateful to catch good music that’s new to my ears. I bopped off of my living room couch with a tune in my head and a fresh new blog topic in mind, because what really caught my attention was where they will be playing this weekend...

Bistro-To-Go StorefrontI recently had the pleasure of attending a wedding held at a gorgeous venue with amazing food. In fact, it was Dylan Taft and his lovely wife Brooke, who were exchanging vows that afternoon.  It was a wedding that celebrated the surrounding landscape, both in its location and cuisine; a wedding that could only be held right here in the Hudson Valley Region. The Onteora Mountain House, located in Olive, NY, boasts views of the Catskills that resemble a painting, such is their beauty. The Esopus Creek sparkled as it wound & snaked along the valley below. The happy couple was wed outdoors, seemingly perched among the tall pine trees, against a backdrop of rolling mountains. As if taking their cue from the beauty around them, the caterer, Blue Mountain

The aroma of fresh garlic emanating from Cantine Field in Saugerties can mean only one thing: the 2011 Hudson Valley Garlic Festival! This extremely popular annual festival features all things garlic, and we mean all things. From garlic ice cream (yes you’re reading that correctly!), to garlic fudge, to humans dressed as dancing garlic cloves, the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival is yet another lively event unique to the Hudson Valley Region. It is another shining example of an active community that characterizes not only Saugerties but most all of Ulster County.
