Ulster County is a destination for lovers this time of year. What could be better on a cold winter’s day than to spend some quality time with your love, enjoying a delicious meal and some sweet treats to go along with it? There’s lots of ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day here in Ulster County with your love, so much so, that for the ambitious, it may be hard to fit your whole desired Ulster County itinerary into one single, love-filled day. Some of the appeal of Ulster County lies in the fact that during any season, be it spring, summer, fall or winter, there is an abundance of beauty from our natural geography and a ton of activities to get residents (and visitors!) outside to enjoy all of them. In a region that is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking and highly visited mountain ranges in the country (the Catskills, Appalachians and Adirondacks to name only a few), it should be no surprise that these mountains are home to some of the best skiing in the northeast. While Ulster County itself is host to only a small number of ski areas, the amount of ski centers in the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas make Ulster the perfect home base for skiers and other outdoor winter

If you’re not headed out of town or to the beach this Labor Day weekend, there’s still plenty to do right here to enjoy one final blast of summer and have

Parts of the Hudson Valley, specifically locations in Ulster County, are drawing Brooklynites in record numbers- so much so, that the Hudson Valley has even been referenced as the “New Brooklyn.”  This seems to be happening more and more since the NYT article was published about NYC renters choosing to buy a second home first before buying their primary home in the city.  it makes sense if you think about;  this new generation of buyers are realizing that they may just be better off renting in Manhattan and then purchasing the more affordable digs upstate.  Why not buy in the Catskills if that’s really your ultimate lifestyle?  We’re seeing baby boomers looking to come back to more urban settings since their net worths make it possible and the

4th of July 2015Whether you’ve just bought a house and moved to the Hudson Valley region, or you’re a weekend visitor checking out real estate in Woodstock & surrounding communities as a potential place to put down some roots, attending a July 4th holiday celebration is a grand way to get a feel for the wide scope of your potential new community. Depending on your mood, you can view the extravaganza with high energy or a more relaxed fashion. I’ve joined organized family-style picnickers determined to find a primo spot for the fireworks. This means thinking ahead, packing baskets of food and blankets and low folding chairs and arriving
