Ulster County Real Estate 2012 Update - Record High NYC Rents Driving Hudson Valley Relocation?
Friday, May 4th, 2012 at 12:21pm. 189 Views, 0 Comments.
There is a strong connection between Ulster County NY real estate and the housing market down in New York City. A large (and growing) number of buyers looking for homes for sale in Ulster County are New Yorkers. As noted recently in the New York Times, rents in Manhattan have reached an all time high, leaving many New Yorkers to wonder if now is the time to leave the city for good. Living in Ulster County, you can have the best of both worlds; that is, if you're qualified. Though it remains one of the best times in recent memory to buy real estate, it is also one of the toughest times to secure a mortgage. So people may want to get out of that lease, but just can't get a loan to buy their own place. With less people able to buy, can the rent just keep…

The New Paltz Regatta, though certainly a regatta by definition, may not be the haughty affair you'd expect. It features wacky boats, live music, a town parade, and free ice cream! We'd prefer that to the typical Regatta any day, and the 2012 New Paltz Regatta this weekend did not disappoint! The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day as contestants braved the mighty Wallkill River on hand-made boats, colorful rafts, and even a floating house or two! Fun, homegrown events like these, that seem to pop up every weekend, are part of what make New Paltz one of our picks for the Coolest Ulster County Towns in 2012.

Levon Helm, longtime Woodstock NY resident and advocate for the entire Ulster County NY area, died yesterday due to complications with cancer. He was 71 years old. The famous drummer for The Band was known for his smoky southern voice, and muted, bluesy drums. Originally from Arkansas, he long ago fell in love with Woodstock NY where he lived, performed, and recorded since the mid 1970's.

Ulster County Real Estate Update - Spring 2012 Local Farmer's Market Guide
Friday, April 6th, 2012 at 3:07pm. 316 Views, 0 Comments.
Farms have always been a part of the culture and history here in Ulster County NY. It's home to the 2nd oldest farm in NY State, (Accord's Saunderskill Farms, see below) and arguably the best tasting corn in the Hudson Valley. Now that spring is in full bloom, the Ulster County farmer's markets will be in full swing! Our cravings started with the opening of Davenport Farmstand in Stone Ridge, NY and like many others we've been waiting for this time of year. Residents of Ulster County can now enjoy fresh and nutritious food, grown on the farm and brought straight to their dinner tables. The abundance of fresh (and affordable!) produce from the spring through the fall is yet another reason why Ulster County real estate is so desirable among buyers.
So…
