When I work with buyers looking for Hudson Valley real estate many times it is the peace, quiet, and privacy that appeals to them. However buyers, particularly from more urban areas, like to know that medical services are nearby both for basic care and emergencies. Hospitals and medical centers are spread out generously across Ulster County, NY and the rest of the region so that no matter where you may be, there are medical facilities nearby should you need them.

Three Hospitals Serving Ulster County, NY

In the City of Kingston, NY there are two hospitals: Kingston Hospital is a 150-bed, acute-care hospital that provides medical/surgical care, ambulatory, surgical care, diagnostic imaging, and emergency services. Benedictine Hospital, also in Kingston, offers inpatient and outpatient health care services, and is a recognized Community Cancer hospital by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer, a distinction held by only a few hospitals in the Hudson Valley. In Ellenville, NY, located in the southern part of Ulster County, there is the Ellenville Regional Hospital. Wherever you live in Ulster, County, there is a hospital just a short drive away.

More Area Hospitals - Northwest of Ulster County, and East of the Hudson River

mriFor residents in Woodstock, NY or further west on Rte. 28, there is the Margaretville Hospital in the town of Margaretville, NY. Though small (a 15 bed facility) Margaretville Hospital offers emergency care, ambulatory care, laboratory testing, medical imaging, and physical and occupational therapy. If you're in the southern part of Ulster County, like New Paltz, Lloyd, or Highland, NY for example, medical care can also be found across the river in Dutchess County. The Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY is a sprawling, 365 bed hospital that offers cardiac services, cancer care, and women and children's health services. Also in the Mid-Hudson Valley is the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY; a 68-bed acute care, non-profit hospital providing a comprehensive range of emergency, medical, and surgical services.

Occupational Health Services and Walk-In Emergency Care in Ulster County, NY

That's why FirstCare Walk-In Medical Center in Highland, NY is such an invaluable resource for patients. FirstCare Walk-In Medical Center provides treatment for minor emergencies, illnesses, and injuries. They are open every day including most holidays and provide a respectful, caring, and comfortable environment. Many employers these days require a health screening or drug test for their employees. Emergency One centers are very helpful when either urgent care, or a simple blood test, is needed. Two Emergency One locations, one in Hyde Park, NY and one in Kingston, NY (which serves the Saugerties, NY area as well) offer walk-in emergency care services, as well as on-site, non-emergency programs like hearing tests, drug screening, and OSHA medical exams. Emergency One will work with patients and employers regarding payments, and stay open on weekends and during evening hours to accommodate the working patient.

Other NY Region Facilities

Further north in Albany, NY there is the Albany Medical Center. This 651 bed facility offers the widest range of medical and surgical services in the region. South of the Hudson Valley is the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY which also offers a wide range of specialty services, adult & elderly medical care, and pediatric services.
