bistro_logoMuch like the town itself, the Bywater Bistro in Rosendale NY is trendy and unique! Over the years it has grown into a favorite meeting spot for friends. Whether you're a couple seeking a quiet meal, or a group of friends who'd like some cocktails and tasty snacks, the Bistro is a great choice! Its lush and private garden out back is also one of our favorite venues for an outdoor meal during the spring and summer months! The Bywater Bistro contributes greatly to the popularity of Main Street Rosendale NY, where you can find everything from great food and drink, to art, films, and more on this small but thriving main street.

A Family Owned Rosendale Restaurant With Local Roots

bistro_gardenOwned and operated by Sam and Reuben Ullman, brothers and longtime residents of Ulster County, the Bywater Bistro is a family affair with local roots. Chef Sam takes pride in his use and knowledge of local seasonal produce. His dishes are a fusion of classic French and Japanese styles - as well as some delicious, more traditional American comfort foods. Start with the red cabbage and romaine salad, with candied walnuts and fresh bleu cheese; or perhaps some tasty wings or tofu sticks in your choice of buffalo, orange teriyaki, or Asian BBQ sauce! As an entree Taft Street recommends the grilled rib-eye steak (ours was cooked to perfection), or maybe the grilled tuna steak sandwich with Asian cole slaw and wasabi mayo! The Bywater Bistro also has a fun and active nightlife, serving up regional craft beers on tap, wines, cocktails, and tasty food for those looking for a fun night out with friends. As we said before, on a nice day or evening, the back deck and garden can't be beat!

A Trendy Mainstay in Rosendale's Tight-Knit Community

rosendale_400Over the years the Bywtaer Bistro has grown from the new kid on the block, to a trendy mainstay in the tight-knit community of Rosendale NY. The former rough and tumble cement mining town has become a favorite upstate retreat for New Yorkers and Brooklynites. Fun and funky festivals like the annual Rosendale Street Festival, winter's Frozendale Festival, and the world-renowned International Pickle Festival all add to Rosendale's quirky allure. There exists an active and involved community in which small businesses like the Bywater Bistro and residents all share a love and sense of responsibility for the unique little town in which they live. With less than a 2 hour drive to New York City and a Trailways bus stop that can take you directly to or from NYC's Port Authority bus station, real estate in Rosendale is very popular among New Yorkers looking to get out of the city fast! The Bywater Bistro adds to this appeal, providing a great environment to eat, drink, and enjoy the company of friends!
