About Accord, NY
Accord (pronounced ACK-ord, not a-CORD) has a population of approximately 600. It is located along US Highway 209, in the southeast corner of New York State. It is located on the east side of the town of Rochester, in Ulster County. This is not to be confused with the city of Rochester, which is located approximately 4 hours northwest.
The hamlet is located at the confluence of Rondout and Peters Creeks, in the beautiful Rondout Valley. This area is nestled between the Catskill Mountains and Shawangunk Ridge, an extension of the Appalachian Mountains.

Accord’s name originated when townspeople petitioned the state government against its original name of Port Jackson. Authorities could not come to an accord for a new name, so the name “Accord” was chosen.
In 2019, the hamlet was registered as the Accord Historical District by the US National Park Service. It features many sites on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Appledoorn Farm, Joachim Schoonmaker Farm, and Common School No. 10.
