Here comes the sun! As our nation continues the delicate dance of managing energy consumption, the need for alternate fuel sources is becoming more and more of a necessity. This issue holds particular significance in the Hudson Valley region as the debate over "Hydro-Fracking" rages on. Local, Hudson Valley solar energy companieswant you to know that you have options! Foremost among them being solar power which is renewable, clean, and safe for our environment. Over the past few years, the Hudson Valley region has been making significant efforts to be a home base for solar production, development, innovation & use! From the rise in local solar companies, to recent legislation favoring homeowners who utilize solar power, to new classes being taught in our schools about solar technology, the Hudson Valley is saying, "Let the sun shine!"
Solar power companies have been thriving in Ulster County NY and throughout the Hudson Valley! On all levels, solar power is gaining momentum in our area. Locally, independent solar companies exist in almost every town in Ulster County NY, providing installation, service, and consulting on solar power systems. From Olivebridge NY (Sun Mountain Solar) to Woodstock NY (Solar Generation) support your local solar small business! Kingston NY's Tech City is an entire business park that runs in a large part on solar power, and caters to green-minded businesses seeking a base of operations. National solar companies have also planted flags in the Hudson Valley like Lighthouse Solar who's Hudson Valley headquarters is in New Paltz NY, and Sunwize Solar, who's East Coast Headquarters is based out of Kingston NY. On every level, the solar business is booming in the Hudson Valley! At Taft Street Realty we're big fans of solar power! In fact, our Ulster County Living video below features an amazing private system! (Installed & Maintained by Sun Mountain Solar in Olivebridge NY)
Government and big utility companies are taking note and embracing solar energy as it becomes more popular among residents of the Hudson Valley. The Ulster County NY Executive recently signed a resolution exempting the sales tax on the purchase of residential solar systems. This is a great incentive for homeowners to give solar a chance and see how it lowers their energy bills! Utility companies like Central Hudson have been sweetening the deal for those who opt for solar energy. Customers who install solar panels, (both residential and commercial customers) would qualify for what Central Hudson calls, "Net Metering". This process allows customers to sell excess energy that they create through their solar energy systems back to Central Hudson! Individuals tend to get the ball rolling with these types of shifts in thinking, but eventually government and big companies follow. As more and more homeowners install and use solar energy, it illustrates to government and business that solar is what the people want! And while there may are many critics of Hydro-Fracking in the Hudson Valley, no one can deny the benefits of solar energy!
