The arrival of spring in the Hudson Valley region also marks the beginning of the season for local farms and farmers markets.Whether its fresh produce, beautiful flowers, or scrumptious organic foods, Ulster County is home to a wide variety of family owned farms and community run farmers markets. Local real estate activity tends to pick up in the springtime and we here at Taft Street think it has as much to with sweet corn and strawberries as it does with beautiful homes and great value. No matter which direction you’re headed in Ulster County, there’s a farm nearby ready to provide fresh local cuisine!
Davenport Farm - Stone Ridge, New York – A staple of Stone Ridge, Davenports has evolved from a family farm providing corn and other simple wares into a must-stop destination when cruising through Stone Ridge. Famous for its delicious Rondout Sweet Corn, some argue that it’s the best tasting corn in Ulster County, if not the entire Hudson Valley. Davenport’s is more than just corn however, there is a large indoor / outdoor nursery containing flowers and veggie plants many of which are grown right on premises. Step inside the farm stand and you’ll be delighted to find a fully stocked market containing amazing baked goods still warm from the oven, as well as a nice selection of specialty foods and organic brands. On the go? Check out the cooler filled with delicious food-to-go made on premises, from healthy burritos to amazing bean salads. Davenport Farms is a fine example of the modern-day Ulster County farm stand. www.davenportfarms.com Now Open - 3411 US Route 209 – Stone Ridge, NY 12484 (845) 687-0051
