A Community-Run Event Offers the Best of Rosendale, NY

So what is the Frozendale Festival? It's a day-long event which celebrates the winter season and showcases the unique small businesses, eateries, and artists that make up this tiny town just 90 miles North of New York City. Diverse and affordable, Rosendale, NY real estate is very desirable, with a strong sense of community as this festival so clearly demonstrates. Taking place this Saturday, December 10th and beginning at 11 am, festival-goers can stroll down Main Street Rosendale, where each participating business will have an event, a live demonstration, entertainment, great specials, or all of the above! Start the festival off right with a FREE, pre-festival Yoga class offered by Wolfgang at the Open Space at 10am. Like books? Then be sure to visit the historic Rosendale Library from 11-3 for their Frozendale "Booktique" and you just might find that classic you've been looking for. Speaking of classics, the Rosendale Theatre will host FREE screenings of "Mary Poppins" at 12:30 and 3:30 - with the 3:30 showing being a Sing-a-Long screening (you've been warned). We heard that Santa himself will be popping into Bill's Barber Shop on Main Street for a visit with local kids, and if you do pay him a visit, feel free to take a holiday hay ride, departing every 1/2 hour. Handmade gifts by local artists will be for sale at 3 seperate locations along Main Street, the Canaltown Alley, the Enlighten Image Studio, and the Trans-n-Dance Drum Center.

Great Food & Winter Fun In This Hip Ulster County, NY Town

It looks like the mild weather has finally left us, and Saturday will to be clear but cold. Not to worry, because festival goers can get FREE Famous Rosendale Mugs full of hot cocoa from 12-6 (or as long as they last!). All that walking around may work up an appetite, and dining in Rosendale, NY is just the thing to satisfy your hunger. You can visit the Rosendale Cafe where you can decorate delicious cupcakes, munch on some vegan delights, all while enjoying live music from various local acts. Who doesn't love comfort food? The Big Cheese will be hosting a Mac n' Cheese Bake-Off, open to the public, with the winner receiving a $50 Gift Certificate. There will be plenty of ongoing entertainment at various points throughout the festival. The Rosendale Cafe offers a new act almost every hour, and kids and families can enjoy an amazing puppet show, "Animals In Winter" at the Redwing Blackbird Theater at 2:30pm. Enjoy some culture at the Open Space, which will present the performance, "Mexico Beyond the Mariachi" at 1:45pm. Whether you like movies or puppet shows, Vegan food or hot dogs, you can find it at the 2011 Frozendale Festival!

Old Man Winter Visits the Hudson Valley

There the parade will continue to make merry until the stunning Trestle Lighting, where the breathtaking train trestle that looms over Rosendale will be lit with colorful lights to celebrate the holiday season! With an active community and fun events year-round, it's easy to see why everyone these days wants to buy a home in Rosendale, NY. The 2011 Frozendale Festival is just another great reason to visit or live in this cool little town.
